TORONTO, ON – What a kick off last night was! The tents were packed and the buzz of bloggers, media, sponsors and the who’s who were all there.
However, in my seven years of attending fashion week I have never been colder! It was freezing in the tents! I felt horrible for the logistical team behind WMCFW as no one plans for such cold temperatures in late March. Thank goodness we had one of favorite lines, Line Knitwear showing that evening. Considering I have lived in their sweaters throughout the winter it seemed only fitting. After a meeting with the fabulous Misty Fox (one of the go to hair/makeup artists in the city) who turned me from bedhead into boho fabulous bedhead – we were off to the races.
Line Collection Line Knitwear was one to please and their creamy cozy whites and cotton candy blue sets. Cashmere sweater with matching shorts – sign me up! My ultimate look had to have been the hot pink cashmere sweater with a bubble gum colored leather skirt. If you want to know how to look sophisticated, stylish and practical on colder days – Line Knitwear’s FW2014 collection is just that.
After stepping over to Ritz Carlton for a quick bite and a chance to warm up. (I do need to give a special shout out to my girlfriend Claire who taught me how to get the Ritz underground with only 2 seconds of being outside) we rushed back to the tents to see Vawk.
I have enjoyed watching Sunny Fong’s career bloom from Project Runway to the designer that he is today. One thing I love about his collections is that he uses real models, woman of all ages that come in all shapes and sizes. This collection was urban and with the grittiness of the 90′s but relatable to a client looking for key luxury pieces in their wardrobe. The icing on the cake was all the models wore Jon De Porter’s jewelry. He designed the pieces I wore for my Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve themed event and has been on my radar for a while. His pieces are timeless, elegant but come with a much more affordable price tag.
After taking in a couple of shows we were off to bed. After all it is only day one and we have four more days of excitement.
See you tomorrow at the tents!
