TORONTO, ON – A South Asian red carpet was rolled out for the 11th Anniversary of Anokhi Media at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto on February 1st, 2014.
The event started with a VIP red carpet walk where celebrities graced the pre-party through the maze of photographer flashes and videographers.
The guests included well-known South Asian celebrities including Anne-Marie Mediwake (Co-host of CBC News Toronto), Sangita Patel (Reporter for Entertainment Tonight Canada), Nazneen Contractor (Star Trek Into the Darkness, 24, Revenge), Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards, Sex and the City, Raising Helen), Shantanu & Nikhil (Celebrity Fashion Designers) and honourary South-Asian in Canadian-Italian Celebrity Chef and author David Rocco and his wife Nina.
The award attendees wore beautifully ornamented gowns and saris, donned with accents, beads, and jewels that would even make anyone a little jealous.
Highlights:
- Ciroc bar at the VIP Reception and the Meher Pavri’s performance that opened the awards show.
Best dressed:
- Meher Pavri (Opera Singer) paired white on white lace and sari for a beautiful combination of modern and traditional.
- Raj Girn (Founder and President of Anokhi Media) outshone everyone with head-to-toe bling.
- Designer Nikhil from Shantanu & Nikhil wore a stylish jacket with a hint of tradition.
