2016 DX Intersection – DISPATCH

Words & Photos by: STEVE BLACKBURN

TORONTO, ONT – Design Exchange annual fundraiser DX: INTERSECTION was held on November 4 at the Design Exchange, Canada’s Design Museum (DX) and themed DISPATCH.

A sold out crowd mingled with some of Canada’s top design innovators and party elite during the cocktail reception during which  the event honoured Tyler Brûlé, whose ‘work demonstrates the cross-pollination of design disciplines and shows how design informs contemporary culture and lifestyles’ with the 2016 DXI Award. Canadian engineer, innovator and angel investor Charles Bombardier (yes of THAT Bombardier Family) was this year’s Honourary Chair.

A spectacular dinner followed the cocktail reception then the dance floor opened up to more than 700 guests who partied til late.

Each floor of the museum was reinvented with interactive installations and experiences by Canadian designers, and we’ve collected some of the moments from this multi-sensory night.

“DX Intersection is our annual ode to the country’s creative community; a chance to showcase interdisciplinary design and unexpected collaborations.” Shauna Levy (President/CEO, Design Exchange)

All proceeds from the event support DX’s Public and Education programs, including exhibitions, workshops, and youth education programs.

Design Exchange, a not-for-profit museum funded by its members and donors, is Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the pursuit of design excellence and preservation of design heritage.
