KLEINBURG, ONT – The Moonlight Gala is the McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s annual fundraiser. In its 4th year, the 2015 signature fundraiser was held on a beautiful starlit evening among soaring pines and quite appropriately, in the warm bask of late-Spring moonlight.
An unforgettable evening of food, drink and live entertainment was enjoyed by patrons and local celebrities alike, to show support for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. The McMichael Canadian Art Gallery is the only major gallery in Canada that collects only Canadian art. Its permanent collection consists of artworks by The Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, and other Canadian artists.
Jazz artist Amanda Martinez headlined live music throughout the night. CTV’s Beverly Thomson hosted the event, and Jay Mandarino presided over the live auction. TVO’s Steve Paikin and jazz vocalist Sophie Milman were in attendance as well as Honorary Patrons Catherine Nugent and Jeanne Becker.
A delicious assortment of dinner options included chocolate scented boneless beef short rib with cauliflower puree and crisp polenta, a trio of strip loin with duck fat mash potatoes, and wild mushroom risotto. For seafood lovers, there was tiger shrimp prepared while you wait, pan seared black cod with an arugula hazelnut pesto and a seashell pasta stuffed with lobster.
While guests enjoyed the signature libations there were also tasty bites making way throughout, including crab pops, ceviche, and maple sake salmon. Luscious gourmet desserts were provided by Dolcini. For an après affair, the New York Fries truck pulled up with burgers and fries for everybody and also on hand was late night pizza.
The 2015 Moonlight Gala was made possible by the following sponsors: Hatch, Deloitte Merit Travel, RBC, TD, CIBC, Crowe Soberman, Air Canada, Lindt, Dolcini, Aura, South Street Burger, New York Fries and Steam Whistle.
