2014 WMCFW as seen through Ainsley's eyes

By Ainsley Kerr  – YYZEvents Guest Fashion Writer

T’was the night before fashion week and all through the house, not a creature was stirring…

Opening my first entry with a line from a Christmas classic seems fitting, as Fashion Week is truly one of my “most favorite times of the year”. This season marks my 11th year attending Toronto Fashion Week and the night before opening night is very quiet in my house — except for the flutter of anticipatory butterflies.  While most of these fashion collections have been complete for sometime, there is nothing like the feeling of viewing these incredible pieces come to life on the runway!

I feel blessed to have attended Fashion Week as an admirer of fashion in general and of Canadian designers in particular. As a nod of respect to the World Mastercard Fashion Week (WMCFW) I have my own rituals that I adhere to. In the week before it, I confirm which shows I will be attending and choose my outfits depending on the designers who will be showing that day. I like to research the designers of whom I know little about, much like one would research an artist before attending their exhibition.

In part two of my rituals, I prepare to look and feel my best through diet, exercise and pampering before the big week.  I do this because I feel that I owe it to those designers who have given me the privilege of representing their work.  I am very excited and honoured to wear their pieces and want to look my best for them.

In the coming days, I look forward to sharing my personal diary with you of WMCFW and hope you enjoy the journey as seen through my eyes.
