TORONTO – The Clash would have been proud as London Calling was the theme for the 19th Annual Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada Fundraising Gala, was held at the Fairmount Royal York in Toronto.
The Starlight Gala is the largest annual fundraising event that brings together 700 guests for the benefit of the Starlight Foundation.
The London Bobby, Union Jack, Austin Powers, Bond, James Bond,
Royalty (The Queen and Prince) were in attendance to celebrate ‘all the best of British’. It was London in the 60’s all over again.
The Starlight Gala remains one of the foundation’s largest sources of fundraising, with over $500,000 raised at last year’s event.
Guests included the fabulously dressed Hilary Farr from TV’s Love It or List It, Super Model Stacey MacKenzie, The Trews Rock Band, Tara Spencer-Nairn from CTV’s The Listener.
Hosted by comedienne Carla Collins, the sold out evening featured ‘The Spice Girls’ tribute group, an amazing Silent and a Live auction. During the cocktail reception Artist Jessica Gorlicky painted a London cityscape complete with Big Ben.
As Austin Powers would say, it was a “Smashing time, Groovy Baby, Yea Baby Yea!”
