TORONTO, ONT – The 2014 Mistletoe Ball and Auction celebrated the 35th anniversary of The Herbie Fund at The Hospital for Sick Children with a night of salsa dancing, fine cuisine, live and silent auctions at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto.
It was a night of black-tie glamour, glitz and samba and this year’s theme was ‘Copacabana’. A Brazilian floorshow with carnival and samba dancers punctuated with a dynamic group of drummers from the Samba Squad dazzled the attendees.
Former Metro Chair and President of the Toronto Blue Jays Paul Godfrey and his wife Gina Godfrey established the Herbie Fund at SickKids in 1979 in response to the needs of Herbie Quinones. At last count, The Herbie Fund had helped 765 children from 106 countries who have received specialized care in Toronto through the fund.
After 35 years the Herbie Fund’s founder and longtime president, Gina Godfrey, will be retiring. Ms. Godfrey, an artist who recently opened the Gina Godfrey Gallery will be devoting more of her time to her Gallery. We wish her the best.
